The Geoinformatics Conference was a success

The main topic of the 9th Unicorn College Open was Geoinformatics. It took place at the Prague Conservatory on the Dvořák embankment on April 21. Current events, visions of the future, and possible pitfalls, were looked at through the eyes of those who make up the geoinformatics platforms, or which geoinformatics has made a significant contribution already.

The conference was filled with more than 300 attendees. During the day, individual lecturers responded to a number of questions such as: Why and how do they use geographic data from different industries? How do they support their development? How does this information help in energy, manufacturing, banking, insurance, or public and private life? What is the relationship between geoinformatics and concepts such as IoT or cloud? Where can we find geographic information systems? What spatial data are available to us?

The conference started with the introductory speech from Miroslav Kaňka, the director of the company HSI, who, after the launch, make the keynote speech Geoinformatics Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow. Radek Kuttelwascher from ARCDATA PRAHA addressed Trends in Spatial Data Work, Tomáš Staněk from Benley Systems spoke about Augmented Reality in Geoinformatics, Václav Novák from UNIPETROL RPA discussed the Use of Geoinformation for Asset and Property Management in the UNIPETROL Group, Oldřich Adamek from Pražská energetika spoke on Geoinformatics in power engineering, Zbyněk Businský from ČEZ Distribuce spoke about How Geoinformatika helps in power management, Carlien Stadhouders from Esri discussed Unlocking the power of location in business, Aleš Michl has a speech about Geoinformatics of printing money.
